In brief: Cuba’s inflation rises year-on-year

*Cuba’s national statistics institute (Onei) has released new figures which show that monthly inflation in March was 2.19%, bringing the annual rate to 13.42%. This compares with monthly inflation of 2.58% in February, when the year-on-year rate was 12.33%. According to the Onei report, in March the category of transport posted the highest monthly inflation (4.42%), followed by restaurants and hotels (3.66%), food and non-alcoholic drinks (2.66%), and housing services (1.82%). Health was the only category to post monthly deflation (-0.01%).
