BRAZIL: Government seeks security cooperation with US

Brazil’s finance minister, Dario Durigan, announced on 10 April that the federal tax authority (RFB) has made an agreement with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to cooperate on investigations into criminal networks of drug and arms trafficking groups. The US and Brazilian governments have been in talks for months to discuss several areas of bilateral interest, including trade and critical minerals [WR-26-11], but negotiations on security cooperation appear to be making more progress.
