Díaz-Canel vows to stay put amid US pressure on Cuba

Cuba’s President Miguel Díaz-Canel has ruled out any possibility of resigning. In his first interview with a US broadcasting network, on 12 April, Díaz-Canel indirectly addressed speculation that the US wants to see the back of him and is bringing pressure to bear to achieve this objective during negotiations. The following day, US President Donald Trump suggested to reporters at the White House that Cuba could be next in his sights.
