Luis Abinader has hosted his Ecuadorean counterpart,
Daniel Noboa, in the Dominican Republic where the two held a meeting to “
strengthen a joint cooperation agenda… focused on investment and economic development” for both countries, according to a social media post by the Dominican presidency. The two also agreed to begin talks regarding the signing of a partial trade agreement to boost trade and investment. According to a statement by Ecuador’s presidency, following the meeting, the two governments agreed to work together in areas such as free zones, tourism, health, migration, human mobility, and energy and mining, mainly with regard to natural gas. The two leaders also agreed to strengthen political dialogue and discussed the possibility of signing an agreement on the exchange of migration information. According to Ecuador’s presidency, Ecuador’s exports to the Dominican Republic totalled US$161m in 2025.
