*Guatemala’s central bank (Banguat) has released new figures showing that remittances to the country totalled US$2.14bn in April, down from US$2.44bn in March but up from US$1.98bn in April 2025. This brings total remittances for the year to US$8.43bn, up from US$7.63bn in the first four months of 2025. Remittances closed last year at a record US$25.53bn, up from US$21.51bn in 2024. According to a report
released in November by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the US accounts for 92.9% of remittances sent to Guatemala.
