Concern over REE preferential access
Additional US proposals to develop critical minerals in Brazil have also triggered worries over national sovereignty according to news outlet Brasil 247. In March It cited Brazilian officials saying the proposed terms would give US companies and investors preferential access to strategic minerals. US companies were said to “expect the first opportunity to invest, in accordance with domestic laws, in critical mineral assets that may be sold in Brazil, or by a company headquartered or incorporated in Brazil”.
