In brief: Argentina’s inflation slows

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures for its consumer price index (IPC), which put monthly inflation in April at 2.6% and annual inflation at 32.4%. This marks a deceleration from monthly inflation of 3.4% in March and 2.9% in January and February – the first slowdown in monthly inflation since May 2025. The annual rate was also down from 32.6% in March and 33.1% in February, representing the second consecutive month of decreases in yearly inflation. Of the 12 categories of products and services measured by Indec, the categories with the highest monthly price increases in February were transport (+4.4%), followed by education (+4.2%), and communication (+4.1%). The categories to register the smallest monthly price increases were recreation and culture (+1.0%) and food and non-alcoholic drinks (+1.5%). Economy Minister Luis Caputo highlighted the latest inflation figures on social media, noting it was the lowest monthly and annual rate since November 2025.
