MEXICO: Former Sinaloa security chief surrenders to US authorities

On 15 May Mexico’s federal security cabinet confirmed that Gerardo Mérida Sánchez, a former Sinaloa state security minister (2023-2024) who has been accused of receiving bribes from a prominent drug cartel, had handed himself in to US authorities.
