CHILE: Alvarado pursues new tack over mega reform
On 17 May Chile’s interior minister, Claudio Alvarado, urged the moderate left-wing opposition coalition Socialismo Democrático (SD) to seek a consensus with the far-right government of President José Antonio Kast over its flagship ‘plan of national reconstruction and economic and social development’, better known as the mega reform, which is mired in congress.
