*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released the latest figures for the country’s industrial production, showing a monthly rise of 0.7% in April. This was up from a monthly rise of 0.3% in March. Compared to April 2025, production was up 2.7%, and accumulated production in the 12 months through April 2026 was up 0.7% on the preceding 12-month period. Of the 25 product categories measured by the Ibge, 14 registered a monthly rise in production. The greatest monthly increases in April were registered in wood products (+8.5%), printing and recording equipment (+5.0%), and textile products (+4.1%). The products with the greatest monthly decreases were pharmaceutical products (-6.0%), chemical products (-3.9%), and other transport equipment (-3.3%).
