The anti-government protests in Bolivia which have escalated dramatically since mid-May are becoming increasingly existential for President Rodrigo Paz’s administration. In addition to protesters’ demands for his resignation, the government was forced on 2 June to push back against a proposal from within the allied Unidad party for Paz to convene a recall referendum.
