In brief: Vehicle sales and exports up, production down in Mexico

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has reported that sales and exports of light vehicles increased year-on-year in May, while production dropped year-on-year. Sales were up 4.95% with 127,107 vehicles sold in May, while exports were up 1.72% at 306,288. Production dropped 3.70% year-on-year, with 342,926 units produced. Sales and exports were also up in the first five months of the year as compared to the same period of 2025, with sales up 4.86% with 627,616 units sold and exports up 4.01% to reach 1.39m. However, production was down 0.09% between January and May 2026 with 1.64m units sold.
