President Manuel Zelaya is polarising political opinion in Honduras.
He temporarily refused to receive the credentials of the new US ambassador to
Tegucigalpa earlier this month out of solidarity with Bolivia, which had
expelled its US ambassador for allegedly conspiring against the country's
government. The move, which followed on from Zelaya's decision to sign up to the
Alternativa Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra America (Alba) integration
bloc of Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez , incensed business associations and
the Right. They argue that Zelaya is needlessly antagonising the country's most
