*Brazil’s tourism ministry has released new figures for domestic and international air travel, showing a monthly record figure of 8.31m passengers taking domestic flights in May, while international travellers totalled 2.23m. Domestic travel in May this year was up 2% compared to 8.16m passengers in the same month last year, while international travel was up 5% compared to 2.13m in May 2025. In the first five months of 2026, domestic travel totalled 42m passengers, which marks a 6% year-on-year increase and is a record figure for the period. Meanwhile, the number of international travellers from January-May this year totalled 12.8m, up 10% compared to 11.6m in January-May 2025.
