In brief: Brazil’s oil production down in monthly terms, up year-on-year

*Brazil’s federal oil and gas regulator (ANP) has released the national production figures for May, showing a total of 5.597m barrels per day of oil equivalent (boepd) of oil and natural gas were produced. Oil production in May totalled 4.301m barrels per day (bpd), down 0.9% on the previous month but up 16.9% on the same month in 2025. Natural gas production totalled 206.06m cubic metres per day (m3/d), down 0.3% compared to April but up 19.0% compared to May 2025. The Búzios oil field in the Santos Basin posted the highest monthly oil production, registering 893,370 bpd, while the Mero field, which is also in the Santos Basin, produced the most natural gas, with 47.20m m3/d. The processing unit with the highest monthly oil production in May was the Almirante Tamandaré floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel, registering 247,647 bpd, and the Marechal Duque de Caxias FPSO produced the most natural gas, with 13.08m m3/d.
