In brief: Inflation falls in Paraguay

*Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has published the latest figures for its consumer price index, putting monthly inflation in June at -0.3%, down from 0.1% in May and 0.8% in both April and March. Annual inflation in June stood at 2.1%, down from 2.4% in May and 2.3% in April. Monthly core inflation, which excludes volatile items, stood at 0% while the annual core rate was 1.7%, down from 1.9% registered in May. The subcategories which saw the steepest monthly price rises were bedroom furniture (+2.2%) and liquid fuel for home use (+1.9%), while fresh fruits (-7.3%) and eggs (-4.7%) saw the largest monthly drops.
