In brief: Brazil’s trade surplus rises in June

*Brazil’s ministry of development, industry, trade, and services has released new figures which showed that the country’s trade surplus in June totalled US$9.76bn. This marks a 66.6% increase compared to June last year. Monthly exports in June this year reached US$36.28bn, up 24.9% year-on-year, while the total import value stood at US$26.52bn, up 14.4% compared to the same month in 2025. Exports for extractive industries saw a significant year-on-year increase of 58.4%, with exports totalling US$9.92bn in June. Meanwhile, agricultural exports totalled US$8.14bn, up 18.0% year-on-year, and exports for the manufacturing sector reached US$18.04bn in June, up 14.7%. Regarding export destinations, exports increased to both of Brazil’s top trading partners: monthly exports to China totalled US$12.29bn, up 24.4% year-on-year, while exports to the US totalled US$3.47bn in June, up 3.7% compared to June last year. However, exports to Argentina decreased by 18.1% year-on-year, registering a monthly export value of US$1.33bn.
