*Brazilian airline Azul has announced that it has received approval to be listed on the main New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). According to a company statement, the listing will be made official at the opening of markets on 9 July. Azul also announced that its listing on the main NYSE will mean that it will no longer be listed on the NYSE American, another stock exchange which is owned by the NYSE
’s parent company, Intercontinental Exchange, and is known to be an attractive listing place for companies in the early stages of growth that trade stocks at smaller volumes. The statement cites Azul’s CEO
John Rodgerson as welcoming the NYSE listing as a
“new chapter” following the company’s recent restructuring, with Rodgerson saying that it will boost the Brazilian airline’s
“visibility in the global investment community”. Azul had faced difficulties in recent years and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US in May 2025 but
concluded its restructuring process in February this year.
