In brief: Paraguay’s central bank raises GDP forecast

*Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has raised its GDP growth forecast for 2026 to 4.5%, up from 4.2% in its previous forecast in March. The BCP also lowered its inflation forecast for 2026 to 3.3%, down from 3.5%. The BCP raised its growth forecast for the primary sector (agriculture) from 3.1% to 3.8%, the secondary sector (manufacturing) from 4.1% to 4.6%, and the tertiary sector (services) from 4.5% to 4.6%. The BCP highlighted that GDP increased by 5.8% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, mainly due to the strong performance of services, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, and electricity distribution.
