*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the trade figures for June, showing a monthly trade surplus of US$2.19bn. This is down from the surplus of US$3.45bn in May but up from the US$879m surplus registered in June 2025. Meanwhile, the total trade surplus for the first half of 2026 stood at US$13.92bn, up from the surplus of US$2.76bn in the first six months of 2025. Exports in June this year totalled US$9.06bn, up 24.5% year-on-year, while the monthly import value stood at US$6.86bn, up 7.3% on the same month last year. The rise in exports was mainly driven by increases in agricultural manufactured goods, with an export value of US$3.34bn, up 31.6% compared to June 2025, as well as industrial manufactured goods, registering US$2.42bn (+31.4%), and energy and fuels, which registered an export value of US$1.41bn (+31.1%). Exports to Argentina’s main trade destinations posted year-on-year increases, with exports to Brazil totalling US1.18bn in June this year (+9.1%), while exports to China rose to US$943m (+8.1%), and monthly exports to the US totalled US$865m (+22.8%).
