*Following a meeting with Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa and Finance Minister Sariha Moya, the president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ilan Goldfajn, has announced that the IDB will provide US$7.5bn for Ecuador over the next five years. Writing on social media, Goldfajn said that this funding, which he said could reach US$10.5bn following further financial mobilisation, will support “the public and private sectors, technical assistance, and knowledge”. Key priorities will include insecurity and violence, housing, education and training, health initiatives to reduce chronic childhood malnutrition, and private sector investments in sectors including mining, energy, agribusiness, manufacturing, and tourism. Goldfajn also praised the Noboa administration’s launch yesterday of the ‘Growth Agenda 2040’, which he said “offers a clear roadmap to transform Ecuador’s stability and resilience into sustained growth and more opportunities, through better conditions for investment, greater productivity, and job creation”.
