*The Latin American development bank (CAF) has approved a sovereign risk guarantee of up to US$250m for Argentina to support public credit operations. According to a CAF press release, the operation supports Argentina in its strategy to
“mobilise new sources of financing” through
“support[ing] public credit operations in the country, enable[ing] access to resources under better terms, and help mobil[ising] more private capital”. A CAF statement cites CAF’s executive president
Sergio Díaz-Granados, as saying that the guarantee
“reflects CAF’s confidence in the strength and direction of Argentina’s financial policy, as well as our willingness to support the country in opening new credit channels that expand its room for fiscal manoeuvre, diversify its financing sources, and mobilise private investment under more favourable conditions for sustainable development”.
