*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released trade figures for June 2026, revealing a trade surplus of US$4.09bn. This is up from a surplus of US$2.26bn
in May but slightly down from a surplus of US$4.52bn in April. Exports in June totalled US$72.55bn, up 34.4% year-on-year, while imports totalled US$68.46bn, up 28.0% on June 2025. Inegi attributed the increase of the surplus between May and June to a greater surplus in the balance of non-oil products, which went from US$4.90bn in May to US$7.49bn in June, while the deficit of oil products went from US$2.64bn in May to US$3.40bn in June. In the first half of the year, the trade balance presented a surplus of US$9.86bn, up from US$1.43bn in the same period of 2025.
