*Cuba’s Transport Minister Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila has announced new regulations governing the import, sale, and transfer of ownership of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers. The new measures, published in the official gazette, form part of the 176 economic and social reforms recently approved by the ruling Partido Comunista de Cuba (PCC) government with the aim of liberalising and decentralising the economy in response to unprecedented pressure from the US. The new regulations allow for the expansion of the number of authorised dealerships, as well as the elimination of the purchase limit of six vehicles in five years for individuals and legal entities at these dealerships. Rodríguez Dávila also said that, in an attempt to reactivate public transportation, the special tax applied to buses and minibuses will be reduced from 20% to 12%.
