In brief: Former Alberto Fujimori minister to head Peru’s tax authority
*Peru’s economy and finance ministry has announced that César Luna Victoria will take over as the head of the tax authority (Sunat), replacing Javier Franco, who had held the role since October 2025. Luna Victoria previously served in the authoritarian government of President Keiko Fujimori’s father, Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000), with local media highlighting that he held the roles of fishing minister (1999-2000) and minister of industry, tourism, integration, and trade (1999). The economy and finance ministry also announced the appointment yesterday of Clara Urteaga as president of the fiscal tribunal, which resolves tax disputes.
