In brief: Cuba’s tourism continues to fall
*Cuba’s national statistics office (Onei) has released new figures showing that Cuba received a total of 387,591 international tourists in the first six months of 2026, down 60.7% on the same period in 2025. The latest Onei figures reflect the crisis afflicting Cuba’s tourism sector and the rest of its economy due to the campaign applied by Washington aimed at pressuring it to make economic and political reforms. Of the total, Canada accounted for 126,937 tourists in the first six months of 2026, down 70.3% on the same period in 2025, while the US accounted for 31,001 tourists (-53.8%). Russia accounted for 21,235 tourists (-66.8%), followed by Mexico (16,834, -36.9%), and Argentina (14,559, -39.0%). The country received a total of 1.81m international tourists in 2025, down 18% on 2024.
