*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released new figures showing that the country’s industrial activity in June was up 0.9% in monthly terms and 2.0% year-on-year, while construction declined by 4.1% in monthly terms although was up 4.0% compared to June last year. Accumulated industrial activity from January-June 2026 was down 2.2% on the same period last year, while construction activity during those six months was up 2.8% compared to January-June 2025. Regarding product categories, the greatest monthly increases in industrial activity were registered in petroleum refining, chemicals, rubber, and plastic products (+4.4%), and furniture and other manufacturing industries (+1.8%), while other equipment, apparatus, and instruments posted the highest monthly decline (-7.4%). Monthly declines were also registered in motor vehicles and other transportation equipment (-3.9%), textiles, clothing, leather, and shoes (-2.0%), and non-metallic minerals and basic metals (-1.9%). Other equipment, apparatus, and instruments was also the category with the greatest year-on-year decrease (-25.3%), with significant year-on-year declines also registered in textiles, clothing, leather, and shoes (-10.8%), and metal products, machinery, and equipment (-9.0%). In construction, the greatest year-on-year increases in activity were registered in the “other” category (plumbing fixtures, seamless steel pipes, and flat glass for construction), which was up 30.8%.
