*Mexico’s national social security institute (IMSS) has reported that a net total of 19,550 jobs were lost in July, a monthly decline of 0.1%, compared with the net total of 1.27m jobs created in July 2025. According to the same report, 243,078 jobs were created in Mexico from January to July 2026, while 326,987 have been created in the past year, up 1.5% year-on-year. As of 31 July, 22.8m jobs were registered by the IMSS, which it describes as the fourth-highest monthly figure on record and the highest ever for a month of July. Of the total, 87.0% are permanent jobs and 13.0% are temporary. The economic sectors to have registered the highest annual growth in job creation in July were transport and communications (+7.5%), the extractive sector (+4.3%), and social services (+3.3%). The states that have seen the greatest job growth are Baja California and Oaxaca, both recording year-on-year growth rates above 5.5%.
