*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released the latest figures for its consumer price index (Ipca), which showed a monthly inflation rate of 0.07% for July. This marks a deceleration compared to 0.16% monthly inflation in June. Annual inflation in July stood at 4.44%, down from 4.64% in June. This brings Brazil’s annual inflation to within the official target range of 3.0% +/-1.5, after it remained above the upper limit of the target range for two months in May and June. All but three of the nine categories of products and services measured by the Ibge registered monthly price increases in July. The great monthly inflation rates were registered in housing (+0.99%), health and personal care (+0.40%), and personal spending (+0.22%). The three categories that posted monthly price decreases were food and drinks (-0.67%), clothing (-0.66%), and education (-0.03%).
