REGION: Foreign direct investment falls slightly

Central America's foreign direct investment (FDI) held broadly steady in 2025, according to a new report by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac). However, the region is becoming increasingly reliant on companies expanding existing operations rather than attracting new investment.
