*Mexico’s federal civil aviation agency (Afac) has announced that the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has finished its international aviation safety assessment (Iasa) programme in relation to Mexico’s civil aviation framework, with the final report expected to be issued in 60 days. An Afac press release outlines that from 10-14 August, it responded to questions
“presented by auditors and presented technical evidence regarding the processes, procedures and measures implemented by the Mexican aviation authority”. Mexico’s air safety rating has stood at the highest level (Category 1) since
September 2023, following its previous downgrading to Category 2
in May 2021 which represented a major blow to Mexican airlines due to increased restrictions.
