In brief: Tourist arrivals to Costa Rica rise

*Costa Rica’s tourism institute (ICT) has released new figures showing that tourist arrivals totalled 2.00m in the first seven months of 2026, up 6.4% on the same period in 2025. Of the total, 1.85m tourists arrived via air, up 7.0% on the same period in 2025. As regards source countries, 1.42m of total tourist arrivals were from North America (US, Canada, and Mexico), up 7.1% on the same period in 2025, while 315, 340 were from Europe (+8.4%), 125,447 were from Central America (-4.0%), 96,241 from South America (+3.6%), and 32,861 were from Asia and the Pacific (+7.2%).
