*Mexico’s digital transformation and telecommunications agency (ATDT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Spain’s ministry for digital and civil service transformation to reinforce bilateral cooperation on artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, connectivity, and the simplification of procedures. The MoU establishes collaboration focused on sharing experiences and best practice in the areas of data centres, AI applied to public services, connectivity, digital identity, and simplifying procedures, cybersecurity, and disaster management. It also contemplates the development of training programmes, research, and joint projects, as well as collaboration with the private sector, academic institutions, and research centres. During the signing event, the head of the ATDT, José Peña Merino, highlighted strategic projects such as Nube MX, a technology and data storage platform operated by the Mexican government; the national cybersecurity plan; the national programme for the simplification and digitisation of administrative procedures; the public training centre for AI; the AI Factory, which develops solutions such as customs, tax, and meteorological risk models; and the construction of the Coatlicue supercomputer, which is projected to be the most powerful in Latin America. Meanwhile, Spain’s minister for digital transformation and public administration, Óscar López Águeda, emphasised that his country’s digital strategy focuses on four key areas: businesses, industry, rights, and training, including regulatory updates, training at universities, collaboration with industry, support for businesses, and infrastructure projects involving both public and private investment.
