In brief: Brazil’s services sector posts zero monthly growth

*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its figures for the country’s services sector in July, which showed no monthly increase in the total volume of services provided. In year-on-year terms, the services volume rose by 0.9% compared to July 2025, while the accumulated annual volume in the 12 months through July 2026 was up 2.4% on the preceding 12-month period. The latest monthly result comes amid signs of stagnation in the sector in the past few months, with Ibge records showing a monthly rise of only 0.1% in June and a monthly decline of 0.2% in May. Of the five categories of services measured, four posted monthly increases in July. The greatest rises in volume were registered in professional, administration, and complementary services (+0.6%) and other services (+0.7%). The only category to see a monthly decrease was information and communication services, which was down 2.5%.
