De la Espriella paints dark picture of Colombia’s finances

Colombia faces the most critical fiscal situation in its history, according to President Abelardo de la Espriella, who has instructed his finance minister, Miguel Gómez, to begin urgent talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). De la Espriella blamed the crisis on the reckless spending and entrenched corruption of the left-wing administration of his predecessor Gustavo Petro (2022-2026).
