CUBA: More speculation over US military intentions
As Washington continues to apply its maximum-pressure campaign to Cuba as part of efforts to force an economic and political opening, and with bilateral talks apparently at a standstill, US President Donald Trump has appeared to address long-running speculation regarding US military intentions. On 26 September he told reporters that “I would say that Cuba and us will make a deal. I don’t think we’ll need the military”. A report the previous day by US media outlet CBS News, however, suggested otherwise.
