BRAZIL: Playing on Middle East anxieties

Brazil has hit upon a new idea to boost its image as a rising power on the international stage: to propose, at a time when uncertainty about the Middle East has sharply increased world oil prices, that it can become a ´new petroleum pole ´. Considering that it has not yet achieved self-sufficiency, this sounds more like a means of attracting the investment needed to achieve that aim.
