PANAMA: Martinelli accused of power grab

Weeks after his dubious appointment of two supreme court (CSJ) justices [RC-10-01], President Ricardo Martinelli has once again laid himself open to charges of undermining the separation of powers over the CSJ's recent suspension of Ana Matilde Gómez, the attorney general. The move has not only provoked outrage from civil society but dented his popularity ratings (see sidebar).
