DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Fernández moots re-election bid

The Dominican press is full of speculation regarding whether President Leonel Fernández will seek re-election in May 2012. It sees Fernández as a shoo-in in 2012 as the credibility of the main opposition Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD) has not recovered since the dismal performance of its president Hipólito Mejía (2000-04), who presided over a heavy economic contraction and hyperinflation.
