HAITI: Caricom holds back on reinstatement

Prime minister Gérard Latortue jumped the gun when he announced, on 3 July, that Haiti's reincorporation into Caricom had been secured, and that it would henceforth be participating fully in the regional organisation's decision-making process. When the Caricom leaders held their summit on Calivigny Island, Grenada, on 6 July, they decided to hold off on the reinstatement until a mission of ministers had visited Haiti and reported back.
