MEXICO: Genocide charge against Echeverría dismissed
It was going to be Mexico's 'trial of the century': a special prosecutor had issued an arrest warrant against former President Luis Echeverría charging him with genocide. Others were expected to follow against high officials of the Echeverría government. It did not prosper, however: a judge voided the warrant, ruling that the statutory limitations had run out on the alleged crime.
