MEXICO: Genocide charge against Echeverrí­a dismissed

It was going to be Mexico's 'trial of the century': a special prosecutor had issued an arrest warrant against former President Luis Echeverrí­a charging him with genocide. Others were expected to follow against high officials of the Echeverrí­a government. It did not prosper, however: a judge voided the warrant, ruling that the statutory limitations had run out on the alleged crime.
