The 2011 electoral race has begun, even if not officially according
to the 2009 electoral law. Members of the ruling Frente para la Victoria (FPV)
administration of President Cristina Fernández continue to promote her as the
guarantor of the Kirchnerista model, but Fernández has yet to declare
herself a candidate. Meanwhile, the opposition Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) is
embroiled in an internal battle to decide who will be its presidential
candidate; the Coalición Cívica, a former ally of the UCR, unveiled its
platform; the Peronistas Federales (PF) are too busy fighting with each other
over whether to participate in the Partido Justicialista (PJ) primaries and
faceoff the FPV or run independently; Mauricio Macri, of Propuesta Repúblicana
(Pro), has been uncharacteristically quiet; and the candidate for Proyecto Sur,
Fernándo “Pino" Solanas has been throwing mud in every possible
direction.End of preview - This article contains approximately 567 words.
