Dissenters cast out

The secretary general of Podemos has been told by President Hugo Chávez that he will be considered a member of the opposition if he does not sign up to his singular party. This happened days after calling for an internal debate on whether to join. Podemos is the largest of three small, but nationwide, pro-government parties distinct from the president's own Movimiento Quinta República (MVR), which has been dissolved to make way for the singular Partido Unido Socialista de Venezuela (PUSV).
