Five governors face recall referenda

A total of 46 elected officials could face recall referendums later this year, including 11 state legislators, 31 mayors and five governors. Venezuela's national electoral council (CNE) announced on 29 March that it will collect signatures on the referendums from 16-18 June. If 20% collected are in favour of a referendum, a vote will take place in which votes cast in favour of dismissing the official must match the number of original elective votes.
