Uribe untouched by institutional crisis

Two of Colombia's key institutions are in crisis. The legislature is overrun by politicians with links to paramilitary groups, and the judiciary is fighting a losing battle for its independence as it tries to bring the same politicians to justice. The executive, however, continues with business as usual, protected from the crisis by the country's apparently unassailable president, Alvaro Uribe.
