Bolivia kicks out DEA

Following the expulsion of US ambassador to La Paz in September [RA-08-10], US-Bolivia relations have continued on a downward spiral with the announcement by President Evo Morales that operations by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) would be suspended “indefinitely" in Bolivia. The move followed the US Secretary of State's reiterating of the threat to suspend Bolivia's designation as a beneficiary under the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (Atpdea).
