Gloves come off as Kirchner faces violent piquetero-linked riot

President Néstor Kirchner last week faced the first serious challenge to his 'measured response' strategy to piquetero demonstrations when one of them turned violent just across the road from government house. This came as evidence surfaced that he is losing support due to the widespread perception that he is failing both to control the piqueteros and to contain violent crime.
