MEXICO: Turmoil beyond the virtual tie in Veracruz

According to the latest, hotly disputed results of the Veracruz gubernatorial elections, the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) may have held on to the state by the barest of margins. The outcome was not very far from a three-way split which, if anything, suggests the federally ruling Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) is holding its own better than expected, and that the leftist Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) can, with allies, be a credible challenger in places considered unpromising.
