ARGENTINA: Legal scholars slam hasty anticrime measures

Argentina's top legal scholars have taken the government and politicians to task for rushing to pass anticrime legislation, based mainly on increasing penalties, merely to satisfy demands of the moment. They argue that this approach is not only ineffectual but also runs the risk of heightening public disaffection with the country's institutions.
