More sightings and rumblings about el-Shukrijumah

As a US newspaper connects the elusive Adnan el-Shukrijumah, reputed al-Qaida operative, with the Honduran branch of the Mara Salvatrucha street gang, Honduran security minister Oscar Alvarez now says that he has received from 'several countries' reports about Middle Easterners 'possibly recruiting members of maras'. However, he adds, 'the information shows that it would not only be al-Qaida that is working in this, but also Hamas'. This would indeed be groundbreaking news, since Hamas - as a legal political party in Lebanon - already has extensive, overt contacts with Latin America's many Lebanese communities, but is not known to have taken part in any terrorist or subversive activities in the region.
